The term "putty application" is probably familiar to everyone during renovation.It is a very important process for interior wall painting.We use putty to make the wall smooth and flat.So how do you apply putty?Let's take a look together.
Base Treatment
Whether it's a new wall or an old wall,base treatment is required,no oil stains or dust,no hollowing or cracks,wall holes and internal/external corners should be properly treated,
For uneven wall surfaces, it is recommended to use Wanhua formaldehyde-free leveling gypsum for smoothing.
The moisture content of the base wall should be consistent,and not exceed 10%.After the leveling gypsum is completely dry,apply the waterproof putty.
Mixing Ratio
Mix one bag of Wanhua formaldehyde-free putty powder with 4~4.5 kg of water,and stir evenly with a mixer.
Putty Application Amount
1.5-2.0 kg/m²,adjust according to the flatness of the wall.
At Least Two Coats of Putty
The first coat should be less than 2mm thick,the second coat should be less than 1mm thick,the overall order is ceiling first, then walls,after the first base coat is finished,when the putty is about 60-70% dry,the second coat can be applied,do not wait too long between coats,under normal weather conditions,one day of drying is enough,otherwise a glossy surface may form,which can cause shelling or peeling after sanding.
Finished Product Protection
During putty application, protection measures for other finished products are required,cover the finished floor,apply tape to door and window frames,cross-contamination is strictly prohibited,all internal and external corners during surface construction,must be smoothed and straightened with a sharp-cornered trowel,all floor and window corners must be aligned with a string,to maintain consistent geometric dimensions.
Putty Sanding
After the putty is dry,first use 120-180 grit sandpaper for coarse sanding,then use 280-320 grit sandpaper for fine sanding.
Usage Notes
The prepared putty must be used up at once.
